Gintas K (Gintas Kraptavičius) is a Lithuanian sound artist and composer working with digital experimental and electroacoustic music. His practice explores sound textures, granular synthesis, live electronics, improvisation, and the creative possibilities of technology. He creates experimental compositions and performances, presenting his work in international sound art and contemporary music contexts.
Gintas K’s first release in Crónica was in the early days of the label, when in 2005 he contributed a track for the compilation Essays on Radio. The following year he released in seminal double album Lengvai / 60 x one minute audio colours of 2kHz sound, a complex suite of pieces that envisioned his balancing between conceptual, intuitive, and improvisational approaches to music making, and that foresaw several other releases in the label, the albums Lovely Banalities (2009), So On (2010), Under My Skin (2017), and Lėti (2022), and the participation in the compilations Mus*****c (2008), L (2010), Loud Listening (2012), Loud Listening Murano (2015), and 30+20 (2023). Then and now, Gintas K continues developing a very particular and personal program of research on computer music and performance. A program that is at times oblique, often mysterious, and that has been outputting many wonderful pieces of music while it develops a unique, and immediately recognisable, signature. As two of the latest instalments of this program, Crónica is happy to present two releases: PreAtmosfera (Crónica 255, out in November 2026) and Slow Scratch (Crónica 259, out in March 2027).
