Martijn Comes

Martijn Comes (1979, NL) is an Amsterdam-based composer, curator, producer, and sound artist working at the intersection of electro-acoustic music, broadcast art, and contemporary sound practice. His work explores the relationships between mind and matter, culture and sound, with a distinctive focus on timbre, texture, and the blending of acoustic and electronic traditions.

A graduate of Digital Communications (2004) and Composition for Film at the Conservatory of Amsterdam (2010), Comes has collaborated widely with artists such as Frans de Waard, Hessel Veldman, Luca Forcucci, Giulio Aldinucci, and Nicoleta Chatzopoulou. He was a producer for Concertzender radio in broadcast art and innovative music, worked with Dutch public broadcasters VPRO and NTR, and remains a longstanding curator and producer of DIY concerts and experimental music events.

His music has been released on labels including Silent Records, Dead Mind Records, Moving Furniture Records, and Bedouin Records. He has also given guest lectures and workshops at UPV Valencia and the Faculdade de Belas Artes in Porto on broadcast art, time, meditation, and creative process.

He is also known for his contemporary works for carillon, including EANN; which opened Le Guess Who? 2017, MOTHER (Gaudeamus Festival), and Radiance, Time (Rewire Festival). His work has been internationally broadcast and features in film collaborations with Thomas Mohr and Fernando José Pereira.
