Ephraim Wegner
Ephraim Wegner started his career as a DJ of electronic music, but in the nineties he began composing his own pieces of music and developing digital and electronic music control systems. Here his main focus is on controlling the electronics directly, by visitors of interactive installations or by working together with other musicians. Another important focus in working with electronic music is the quality of the sound itself, from which oscillations result different sound characteristics. Already existing, recorded noises and sound processes play a decisive role — for deconstruction as well as for simulation.
He operates mainly in the area of the Musique Concrète, electroacoustics and New Music. Up to now there were numerous cooperations with other musicians and ensembles (among others Alexander Grebtschenko, Ensemble Chronophonie, Ensemble Alarm, Guillaume Chastel and Skug). He created a lot of musical performances or installations e.g. at the ZKM, Art´s Birthday — an event of the SWR or during the Baden-Württemberg theatre days. Furthermore he composes music for documentaries, art films and short movies as well as for theatre plays. He has his own radio show broadcasted by radio Dreyeckland and is organizing an established event series for experimental music in Freiburg.
